Every Month a New Color Theory Lesson with Seasonal Premium Flowers
Each month we’ll explore the wonderful world of flower design through a fun way to approach color theory in today’s trendiest color combinations! Flower Duet will teach students how to choose the best color combinations for their own projects before they head to the flower market or grocery store. Each class will be a lesson in basic color theory, followed by the color focus for that class.

Flower Duet can’t wait to show students how to work in flower color harmony! You’ll learn how backgrounds change the look of your flower design from tablecloths to wall colors. For example, check out this design in front of our grey wall at the studio and how it changes when we change the background! The colors change in intensity based on the backdrop!

In front of a neutral gray wall, the flowers are easy to see since there is no color behind them. It’s a calming, harmonious image and let’s the view focus on the design.

Now the arrangement is in front of white wall the the dark-tone colors like the purple lisianthus look darker and even a bit sunken. The rest of the flowers take on a lighter feel to them.

Colors appear more bright when the flower design is in front of a black background. The pink of the alstroemeria looks brighter than in the previous two images and the Queen Anne’s Lace really stands out!

Spring 2027 Color Projections
SpringFor spring 2027, Pantone announced its color projections at New York Fashion Week. We are teaching a class featuring Peonies in May that features this complementary theme of pinks and light green! This is just one of many examples of trendy themes we’ll be exploring this year in our color theory flower arranging classes.
