Last month I read an inter­est­ing arti­cle about how Brex­it will affect the local florist inside the UK: Brex­it Could Leave Wed­ding Bou­quets Stuck at the Bor­der: From green­hous­es in Kenya to auc­tion hous­es in the Nether­lands to florists in Lon­don, the ship­ment of flow­ers high­lights Brexit’s poten­tial dis­rup­tion to trade.

The arti­cle talks about how British florists enjoy easy ship­ping imports of flow­ers from around the world via the largest flo­ral auc­tion in the world which is locat­ed in The Nether­lands. Since the vote to leave the Euro­pean Union, there is a lot of uncer­tain­ty and florists state that peo­ple are scared so they are not spend­ing as much on flow­ers. The flo­ral trade has been hurt by this vote and will con­tin­ue to be hurt if Britain is treat­ed as an import­ing country.

British archi­tec­tur­al firm Fos­ter + Part­ners have sub­mit­ted a plan for a 1,000-foot tall sky­scraper with a 360-degree view of the city. Named “The Tulip” because of its flo­ral struc­ture, it would sit next to The Gherkin, also known as 30 St Mary Axe, anoth­er famous Lon­don struc­ture by the same designers.”
