I trav­eled back east this sum­mer to enjoy that great, hot and sticky weath­er that comes along in late July.  On the stick­i­est day we vis­it­ed the Kenil­worth Park and Aquat­ic Gar­dens in Ana­cos­tia, Wash­ing­ton DC. An amaz­ing plot of land that has been in exis­tence for almost 100 years show­cas­ing the most amaz­ing col­lec­tion of Lotus Blos­soms and Water Lilies.  The orig­i­nal cre­ators had a cut flower busi­ness, sell­ing the lotus blos­soms as bou­quets.  They were the first flo­ral oper­a­tion to air freight flow­ers to oth­er cities in the USA to cater to the “Car­riage Trade” aka wealthy patrons. This oper­a­tion is now pro­tect­ed by the Nation­al Park Ser­vice and absolute­ly glo­ri­ous. Every­thing does peak about mid sum­mer — so plan your trip accordingly.
