We are proud to sponsor one of our local high schools and its journalism students for their annual fundraiser. This year the students who run the High Tide Newspaper and Redondo Union High School Yearbook will attend the nation’s largest gathering of scholastic journalists, advisers and journalism teachers — The Fall National High School Journalism Convention.

Live Local? Order your Succulent Pumpkin Today

If you live locally and can pick up from Flower Duet’s studio in Torrance (Date of pickup is TBD), you can order a pumpkin that is already made — ready for your fall decoration and gift giving!

These pumpkins last all season and you’ll love them for your fall holiday gatherings. Under the direction and tutelage of Flower Duet, each pumpkin will be made by a student who is attending the convention and profits from the pumpkin sales will go toward the travel and convention fees for all students attending the conference on the East Coast.

What Flower Duet is Sponsoring

From the Journalism conference website:

The Fall National High School Journalism Convention is Nov. 7–10, 2024, at the Philadelphia Marriott.

Sponsored for more than 50 years by Journalism Education Association and National Scholastic Press Association, the event attracts more than 5,000 attendees on site. It’s the nation’s largest gathering of high school journalists, advisers and journalism teachers.

The fall convention is one of two annual conventions sponsored by the organizations. The Spring National High School Journalism Convention is April 4–6, 2024, in Kansas City, Missouri, at the Sheraton and  Westin at Crown Center.

The convention offers hundreds of instructional sessions, keynote speakers from national newsmakers, dozens of media critiques, JEA’s popular on-site media contests and the announcement of NSPA national winners for Pacemaker Awards and Individual Awards. NSPA also offers a convention Best of Show competition that celebrates current student media work.

This year we are pleased to featured pumpkins straight from the farm! We had them delivered directly to our studio from Pamper’d Farms.
