Hav­ing recent­ly had the absolute plea­sure of attend­ing his online demon­stra­tion for the 2025 Slow Flow­ers Sum­mit, host­ed by the inim­itable Debra Prinz­ing, I can con­fi­dent­ly say that Kris­ten’s book is every bit as enchant­i­ng and inspir­ing as the design­er himself.

You may rec­og­nize the name already. Kris­ten Grif­fith-Van­derY­acht is a celebri­ty flo­ral design­er and the own­er of the flo­ral design stu­dio Wild Bloom in Seat­tle, Wash­ing­ton. He is best known as the “sassy head judge with a big heart on Netflix’s “The Big Flower Fight,” and has been named a top flo­ral design­er by Harper’s Bazaar.

Kris­ten Grif­fith-Van­derY­acht’s pres­ence dur­ing the sum­mit was noth­ing short of cap­ti­vat­ing. His gen­uine­ly bub­bly per­son­al­i­ty shone through, mak­ing the online expe­ri­ence feel incred­i­bly per­son­al and engag­ing. Watch­ing him nav­i­gate the Seat­tle Whole­sale Grow­ers Mar­ket Co-op, hand-pick­ing each bloom with such joy­ful delib­er­a­tion, and then trans­form­ing those selec­tions into breath­tak­ing arrange­ments, was so fun to watch. That demon­stra­tion alone was so inspir­ing that I imme­di­ate­ly ordered his book, eager to bring a piece of that mag­ic into my own life.
