Amaryl­lis bulbs pro­duce stun­ning, trum­pet-shaped flow­ers in vibrant col­ors. Here’s how to care for them:

Planting:

  • Pot­ting: Use a pot slight­ly larg­er than the bul­b’s diameter.
  • Soil: Use well-drain­ing pot­ting mix.
  • Plant­i­ng Depth: Plant the bulb with the top third exposed above the soil.

Care:

  • Light: Place in a bright, sun­ny location.
  • Water­ing: Water spar­ing­ly until the sprout emerges. Once the sprout appears, water reg­u­lar­ly but avoid over­wa­ter­ing. Allow the soil to dry slight­ly between waterings.
  • Tem­per­a­ture: Keep the tem­per­a­ture between 65–75°F.
  • Fer­til­iz­ing: Fer­til­ize every two weeks with a bal­anced liq­uid fer­til­iz­er once the flower stalk appears.

After Flowering:

  • Con­tin­ue Water­ing: Con­tin­ue to water and fer­til­ize while the leaves are green.
  • Reduce Water­ing: Grad­u­al­ly reduce water­ing after the leaves begin to yellow.
  • Dor­man­cy: Once the leaves have com­plete­ly died back, cut them off and allow the bulb to dry out com­plete­ly. Store the pot in a cool, dark, dry place for 8–12 weeks.
  • Repot­ting: Repot the bulb in fresh pot­ting mix every 1–2 years.
