Photos of Our Work by the Photo Pros!
Part of working in this industry is partnering with others and it’s wonderful when we receive the photos from the professional photographers. This set of photos was part of a styled photo session to promote the opening of the redesigned Rose Garden at the South Coast Botanic Garden in Palos Verdes.
These were taken last spring shortly after the venue finished its long-awaited redesign, having now received the photos from the planners, we are happy to share them with you.

Flower Book Review
Terrain: Ideas and Inspiration for Decorating the Home and Garden
Edited by Greg Lehmkuhl and the gardeners of TERRAIN
This book simply named, Terrain, is a perfect segue into spring with ideas for decorating your home with fresh plants and flowers. We love all our floral design books, but it’s also nice to have inpsiration for home living from a book! ShopTerrain.com is a website we often will look to for gift ideas for flowers lovers.
From Amazon:
“Founded in a historic nursery in southeast Pennsylvania, Terrain is a nationally renowned garden, home, and lifestyle brand with an entirely fresh approach to living with nature. It’s an approach that bridges the gap between home and garden, the indoors and the outdoors. An approach that embraces decorating with plants and inviting the garden into every living space.
Terrain, the book, not only captures the brand’s unique and lushly appealing sensibility in over 450 beautiful photographs but also shows, in project after project, tip after tip, how to live with nature at home. Here are ideas for flower arranging beyond the expected bouquet, using branches and wild blooms, seed heads and bulbs. Ten colorful container gardens inspired by painterly palettes. Dozens of ideas for making wreaths out of vines, dried stems, evergreens, and fresh leaves and fern fronds (which you learn to preserve in glycerin). Here are secrets for forcing branches to bloom in the middle of winter. Decorating with heirloom pumpkins, including turning them into tabletop planters. Simple touches—like massing high-summer hydrangeas into weathered baskets and scattering them around the patio—and more involved projects, including taking inspiration from Scandinavia and Britain to create a truly natural Christmas.
With inspiration for every season, Terrain blurs the indoors and out to bring the subtle and surprising joys of nature into our lives every day.”
Floral Design Studio Redesign
Each January we revamp our studio and this week I took a few snapshots of one part of a wall. I had fun with some leftover flowers and used a new item that came as a sample in the mail called a Quicup. See all about it in our tool section below!

It’s fun to make flowers for our online class and then display them in our studio! This is from our free class this month — Oscars flowers! Photo by Kit Wertz.
We’ve combined some of her books with ours and put them in our wall for students to use! The mossy container is from this month’s in-studio class where students learn how to decorate containers with organic materials. like moss and dried flowers.

If you have a floral shop and need a new idea to cover those plant pots, this might be your answer. I could also see these being used as party favors to house flowers, too!
Quicups are a new twist on plant decor. You can choose a pattern or create your own pattern, brand it, or include a message, too! Find out more information at the Temkin PPC website at www.gotemkin.com.
