Last weekend, we created flowers for the wedding sofreh at Los Verdes Golf Course in Rancho Palos Verdes. We create two floral sprays that served as tie-back decor in the front of the sofreh. We created two tall floral designs that went inside the sofreh as well as a decorative petal aisle.

Wedding Flowers Sofreh

Persian wedding sofreh at Los Verdes Golf Course on the tenth tee. Design by Flower Duet. Photo by Kit Wertz

This Persian wedding tradition is also called a wedding table (or wedding spread). It is the centerpiece for wedding festivities and the wedding couple sits at special seats at the table during the ceremony. Each sofreh is prepared for the couple to reflect their unique personalities. General guidelines include: 24 symbolic items on the table which are especially full of meaning for the bride and groom.

The central message around each item are good wishes for for the couple’s happiness & joy, prosperity, luck, health and closeness to God.
