This year sees a grad­ual reopen­ing of things we’ve grown used to hav­ing at our fin­ger­tips up until March of 2020 when every­thing closed down. We were delight­ed to hear that the Flower Fields in Carls­bad (which were closed last year) were open for tours this year!

It was with lots of fun antic­i­pa­tion that dur­ing my kids’ spring break, we drove down the coast to vis­it The Flower Fields. This land is owned by Ecke fam­i­ly and farmed by Mel­lano & Com­pa­ny. Each year acres of col­or­ful Ranun­cu­lus are open to the pub­lic to tour and take lots of photos.

Last year (2020), it was closed due to the pan­dem­ic so last year’s “field to vase” din­ners that also take place on flower farms through­out the coun­try were can­celed.  Casey and Kit were the flo­ral design­ers for the 2nd Annu­al Field to Vase Din­ner at the Flower Fields in 2016. It was a great expe­ri­ence and the food was fab­u­lous. While we can­not expe­ri­ence the “in-per­son, in-the-fields-din­ner” in 2021, Amer­i­can Grown Flow­ers is bring­ing back the “Field to Vase Din­ner Tour” but in a vir­tu­al fash­ion.
